How far along? 32 Weeks, 2 Days

Maternity clothes? The bump is seriously getting bigger by the day… putting my spandex to the ultimate stretch test.  Thanks to my stock pile of lulu and such, though, I still really haven’t needed many official “maternity” outfits

Best moment this week: Family came to visit this week, and it was fun to spend time with everyone as one of the last “Jackson is the only grandchild and center of the universe” visits. 😉 Can’t wait to see how the bossy little boy does with a little brother.

Miss Anything?  Baby H #2 loves to hang out in my ribs, so although I LOVE feeling him squirm, I do miss the days (and more specifically nights) when I wasn’t being punched in the ribs from the inside.

Movement: This week I started noticing lots of hiccups from our little man. So funny! And of course, lots of rolling around and big movements as he’s growing like crazy. Patrick and I love laughing and watching my belly move from the outside.

Food cravings: I can honestly say I haven’t had many weird pregnancy cravings. This week I’ve had lots of grilled chicken, protein pancakes, fresh blueberries, strawberries, and some corn on the cob (which I hadn’t had for YEARS until the last couple weeks, but now I can’t get enough… strange!)  Also been loving lots of protein french toast!

Looking forward to:  I can’t wait to see Jackson, Patrick & Baby H #2 together.  Jackson loves his daddy so much, and Patrick is such a good dad… I am really excited to add another mud loving, dirty dragging boy into the mix.  I love my boys.

Biggest struggle this week: Itchy pregnancy belly!

It sounds so strange, but it’s true…. My belly has been itching like crazy this week.  As the belly grows, I’ve read that skin irritation in the abdominal area (in other words, an itchy belly) is common.

And it does make sense, because when skin expands (and the skin on my abdomen is DEFINITELY expanding big time) it gets dry, and dry skin gets itchy.

The Solution: 3 Tips for an Itchy Pregnancy Belly

Abdominal itchiness is a common and annoying pregnancy symptom that’s almost inevitable with a big belly.  I try to avoid itching as much as possible, as I know scratching only causes more irritation, so I’ve been using these tips to help:

  1. Coconut oil- as a moisturizer works to temporarily end itching, so I’m using that frequently! (Great to prevent stretch marks, too!)
  2. Vitamin E oil- is very healing, so I often mix that into the coconut oil before bed.
  3. Humidifier- I haven’t used this trick yet, but I have heard that using a humidifier may help keep your skin from drying out as well.
