A few years ago, when Patrick was deployed to Afghanistan, I was determined to be in the best shape of my life. I worked out hard, ate clean, and restricted my calories.
At the time, I was working as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor, and Health & Wellness director at my local gym, so in addition to my diet, I spent almost every waking moment at the gym–participating in both the morning and evening workouts that our gym offered.
But for some reason, I was NOT reaching my goals.
In fact, I was in the worst shape I had ever been in! I’ve been in the fitness industry for a long time–I have a degree in Exercise Physiology, for crying out loud–and I know what you need to do to lose weight. But I couldn’t seem to figure out why I was working harder than ever before yet none of it seemed to be working.
Fix Your Fat Fighting Hormones
It’s crazy to think about, especially when I working so hard, but I finally came to realize that I was actually sabotaging my own fat loss efforts without even knowing it.
I consider myself a reasonably smart woman…obviously I knew stuffing my face with ice cream and tortilla chips (you know I love Mexican food) would definitely NOT get me to my fat loss goals…BUT I wasn’t eating chips, I was eating chicken & broccoli! And I was spending hours at the gym!
I knew a hot fudge sundae dripping with chocolate sauce and peanut butter (yeah, I also love peanut butter) was not going to get me back into my skinny jeans…BUT I was completely unaware of some BIG female fat loss mistakes that were making their way into my current routine.
And on top of that, I was completely overlooking the most important aspect of female body change: fixing my fat fighting hormones!
No wonder I wasn’t getting anywhere! No matter what I did with my training and nutrition, the crazy imbalance of hormones that I had allowed to develop was causing my body to hold on to fat!
I finally realized I had to take the advice I had given so many of my clients before… I had to fix my fat fighting hormones.
I actually decreased the amount of time I spent working out, focused more on the right types of workouts, got more sleep, and added some calories back into my diet (that’s right–I ate MORE to weigh LESS!) and most importantly, I began working to balance my fat fighting hormones by every means possible. I saw a change in my physique almost instantly!
That’s right..the fat started melting off!
And years later, even after many changes that come as a mom, I’ve found a way to keep my fat fighting hormones balanced and I’m in the best shape of my life–without spending hours at the gym or living off of chicken and broccoli (yuck!).
