How To Stay Fit When You Don’t Enjoy The Gym

When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, most of us are defnitely aware of the fact that we need to be staying active as well as doing other things such as eating right, getting enough sleep, and also taking care of our mental health.

However, the problem with staying active is that so many tend to associate it with just going to the gym all the time, and the reality is, that whilst that may work for some people, not everyone is able to visit the gym because of time contraints in their life, but also there are plenty of people out there who simply don’t enjoy the gym.

This can be for various reasons such as not really enjoying the types of workouts offered there, but also that there are a lot of people who feel very self conscious going to the gym for whatever reason. Whilst we wish that people didn’t feel this way, because really there’s no need, it’s also quite understandable, and is something that no matter how much others tell you not to feel it, won’t really change anything.

So, in this post we’re going to share with you some of our top tips for how to stay fit when you don’t enjoy the gym – whether or not it’s because you feel self conscious or you just don’t like it.

We want to help you get on track to living a healthy lifestyle in a way that feels good to you.

Walking:

Walking is a great activity for those who don’t enjoy the gym. Not only is it low impact, but it’s free and you can do it anywhere, anytime, so if you’re looking to just start getting a little more active than you currently are, then walking could be the perfect exercise for you. Even if it’s just a leisurely walk for 20 minutes per day, it’s going to make a big difference to your physical and mental health over time.

Hiking:

If you’e an outdoor person and someone who loves nature, then hiking is definitely right up there with the activities you should try as a way to keep fit and active. Hiking is definitely a good bit more active than just walking, but it’s free, except for the clothing you’ll buy, you can do it pretty much anywhere there’s a good amount of nature, and it provides you with a good full body workout, is great for your mind, and is a fun way to spend a day either on your own or with friends.

Running:

Running is another good sport for those who like to be outdoors, again it’s something that’s free and really doesn’t take a lot of time to fit into your day, so even if you plan to have a short sprint workout in the morning before work or in the evening after you get home, it’s a really great way to get in some active time without going over board.

Yoga:

Yoga is something that offers many benefits for overall physical and mental health, so it’s definitely one to consider if you’re not into going to the gym, but still want a bit of a challenge because there are varying levels and types of yoga for different purposes, even yoga during pregnancy, so you’re bound to find one that suits your needs. Also, you can go to a yoga studio to practice, but like other workout apps and online videos, you can do this from the comfort of your own home, too if that feels better to you – or at least until you feel comfortable enough to join in a group setting.
