Just Keep Swimming…

By Blair Lindler

Finding Nemo may be my favorite movie of all time.  I mean, how can you resist a story about an overprotective father, a totally forgetful friend, totally cool sea turtles, and those seagulls (“Mine! Mine! Mine!”)?!  It seems like everything in life I can relate back to that movie and a specific quote from it.

Of course, this is quite possibly one of the most memorable scenes:

Who doesn’t remember (and love) that scene??

And who hasn’t ever felt like they were this tiny boat in the middle of a big blue ocean, with no clue on which way to steer and a gas needle that was forever creeping closer to empty?

When I’m having “one of those days,” I admit to singing Dori’s song over and over in my head to help me not lose my mind.

We all need to be reminded from time to time to not let life, or the stress, or the pressure get to us. That although we might feel like there is no sun behind the clouds, or that land can’t be spotted, the sun and the land are there.

We just have to let our own anxiety and fear subside in order to see what’s right in front of our faces.

So folks, here is your reminder…

I’ll just leave you with one final thought of encouragement in case you need it.  As Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband sing:

“Dream Big… Better Days are Sure to Come.”
