Feel Like You Need A Mindset Makeover?
On October 1st we announced the launch of the ULTIMATE Makeover!
This mind, body and lifestyle mentorship program is going to be a game changer for moms across the globe and I’m super excited about it all!
We began accepting applications into the program last week and already I have been blown away by some of the women and their stories, passions, commitment and motivation to living healthy, happy and balanced lives.
These moms are driven and want to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others- personally and on a larger scale.
Simply put: these moms are world changers!
But as I was reading over applications this past week, I couldn’t help but wonder… why aren’t more moms like this?
Why do so many moms settle for mediocrity?
Here’s what the world tells us is “normal” for the average mom:
- Physically– moms who hate their bodies, who don’t feel comfortable in their clothes, who don’t have the energy they need to keep up with their kids, who fall victim to emotional eating and other disordered patterns of unhealthy behavior.
- Mentally- moms who are drained, who are tired, who are overwhelmed and who are never truly happy. These moms fail to enjoy their life, they lack purpose, lack motivation, and feel as though something is always holding them back from happiness.
I see so many moms who are always saying saying “no” when they really want to say “yes.” They turn down awesome opportunities because they’re scared, busy, tired… (insert a million other excuses here) etc and they miss out on so much that life has to offer.
What’s the difference between a mom who is a world changer and a mom who’s on the sidelines?
If you pay close attention to the moms who are living their dreams and the moms who are stuck in a rut, you’ll notice one common denominator…
Here are 6 disastrous excuses that might be holding you back:
1) “I don’t have time.”
Mindset Makeover: “If I don’t have time that means it’s not a priority.” The truth is that every mom gets the same 24 hours a day as you. Where you spend your time shows your priorities. Instead of saying “I don’t have time,” say “it’s not a priority” and watch how your schedule shifts. Schedule, prioritize and delegate as necessary, but no matter what you do- make sure you make time for what’s important.
2) “I take care of my family, so I’m not a priority.”
Mindset Makeover: “I am a priority, too.” Unless you take care of yourself, you are not truly going to be able to take care of those around you. It’s not selfish to make yourself a priority. In fact, for moms- it’s a necessity! Make time for yourself to sleep, eat well, exercise, and pursue what you love. When you are at your best, you can give the best to others.
3) “It’s too late for me.”
Mindset Makeover: “Now is a perfect time to start.” So you’ve failed in the past- so what! Still trying to lose the “baby weight” and your “baby” is in college? Who cares! Moms make career changes in their 50’s! Moms go back to school in their 30’s! I’m currently training a grandma (of 14) to compete in her first figure competition… and she’s in her 60’s! It’s never too late. It’s time to get over the idea that certain things have to be done by a time. Life is a series of events based on your own actions at any given moment. You can have those events happen in your life in any order or sequence you like.
4) “Now is not the right time.”
Mindset Makeover: “Now is as good as it gets.” Imagine you are old… really old, and getting ready to pass on. Will you be OK with the fact that you passed on the opportunities you have right now. I know ou are busy (trust me, I am too!) But life in general has a way of happening when it happens- it does not check with you first to see if it’s convenient or if you are ready for a new opportunity. Take it or lose it. Any new opportunity that makes you grow and stretch yourself will never feel completely comfortable at first, so it will never feel like the right time to act. But if you’re waiting for a sign, THIS IS IT! Now is the time!
5) “It’s too much work.”
Mindset Makeover: “I’m ready to DO the work.” Anything that is worth having is worth working hard for. What is your goal? Is it worth a little work? If it’s not, you need a new goal. And if it is… Why should you expect easy returns without any hard work? Put in the effort and you will reap the rewards over the long-term.
6) “I’m too scared.”
Mindset Makeover: “This fear I’m feeling means I’m human.” Being scared is a fact of life. Even the bravest moms in the world are scared. What separates the brave moms from the wimps is that they don’t let their fears turn into excuses.
7) “I can’t.”
Mindset Makeover: “I can and I am, starting now.” In the words of Henry Ford, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.” And this is a good thing too. It means you are in control.
Now what?
The best way to make progress is to start, so today I want you to take a small step in the right direction….
Pick one excuse that is holding you back and commit to overcoming it, starting NOW.
