A big question that comes up for most new moms is whether you will nurse or bottle-feed. Personally I am a big believer of breastfeeding if at all possible. I breastfed Jackson until he was almost one and I’m still nursing Warren as well.
Many nursing moms don’t realize it can be difficult, but to me it’s worth it. There are ways to help keep up your supply including lots of water & plenty of the right snacks!

Here’s a great lactation cookie recipe that has helped me tremendously, not only in keeping up my breast milk supply, but also in increasing supply to pump and freeze some breast milk as well.
In case you didn’t know, medium-chain fatty acids in coconut oil improve the absorption of nutrients already existing in the mother’s diet.
These nutrients are of course passed on to the nursing infant through the breast milk.
It is important that a mother’s breast milk contain as much medium chain fatty acids as possible which is another one of the many reasons that I love this Lactation Cookie Recipe….it uses coconut oil!
According to research, when a lactating woman adds foods rich in lauric acid to her diet, the amount of lauric acid available in her breast milk increases substantially to levels three times the original level and nearly double the amount of capric acid.
A single meal with coconut oil can significantly affect the breast milk fatty acid compositions for 1 to 3 days with the maximum increase occurring during the first 10 hours.
How cool is that!!

- Mix all wet ingredients together and combine well
- Slowly pour dry ingredients into wet ingredients and mix well
- Bake cookies for 8-10 mins (until edges are golden brown) at 350
- Cool cookies for at least 5 mins before serving (makes 12 cookies)
