14 Weeks Pregnancy Chalkboard

Pregnancy Chalkboard 14 Weeks

How far along? 14 Weeks, 2 Days

Maternity clothes?  Unbuttoned jeans (with a bella band or hair tie) + leggins are a pregnant girls best friend.  I DID start a maternity fashion board on pinterest to collect some cute spring + summer ideas, though… so while I’m currently holding off on maternity clothes as long as possible, they may be in the near future.

Best moment this week:  Had a check up & got to hear our little one’s heart beat!  (No better sound in all the world!)  We’re thankful for a healthy heart and the gift of baby #2!  (HR was in the 150s… does that mean girl or boy?  Anyone know that old wives tale?)Pregnancy Chalkboard 14 WeeksMiss Anything?  Now that I’m in the 2nd trimester and the belly is growing rapidly, operation: stretch mark prevention has begun!  (So I’m currently missing the days of NOT going to bed as a cocoa-butter grease ball!) Movement: YES!  Starting to feel official flutters this week. 🙂 Food cravings: FRUIT!  I have a giant bowl of fresh berries at least once/day.  I’m also still on the homemade protein packed pizza train (daily) and strangely this week have been craving french toast.  Sugar free syrup + low carb, high protein french toast FTW!  (P28 bread is fabulous!)Gender prediction: Patrick and I both have a hunch it’s a girl.  We COULD be completely WRONG… but that’s our gut feeling for now.

Looking forward to: Finding out the gender at the end of next month! 🙂 Then all the fun of picking a name, planning/decorating the nursery, etc!

Biggest Struggle: Not eating everything in sight!  (Seriously!)

Most of the worst of my pregnancy symptoms have mostly disappeared by this point. Now that I’m 14 weeks, it’s tempting to feel like I can finally relax, since my body has pretty much adjusted to the internal changes that have been happening. (YAY!)  Although the critical stages of our baby’s development have come and gone, it’s still extremely important that I watch what I’m eating.

As my waistline continues to expand, I’ve officially gotten over morning sickness & have come to the point of increased appetite. (Note: you’ll feel the need to “eat for two” but that’s really not the case).

they are what you eatSolution: As your appetite increases, it’s important that you continue to eat properly and exercise accordingly. If you feel you have gained too much weight, do not begin any sort of diet, as this may deny your baby the crucial nutrients it needs to continue to grow.  Simply continue an exercise routine, after discussing it with your doctor, and make sure you eat smaller portions (think quality foods) more frequently throughout each day.

Remember, the baby is drawing all its nutrients directly from the placenta, so again, it’s very important you watch what you put into your mouth.
