Confessions of a Fit Mom
I have a confession to make…
I do not have a perfect body.
There I said it. But what I do have…. is the perfect body for me.
I am constantly trying to improve myself, whether it’s physically, mentally, or emotionally. My driving force behind my need for improvement is for myself… I know that might sound selfish, but it’s the truth. With trying to make myself better I’m becoming a better mom, wife, friend, etc.
So much of the time we compare ourselves to others, whether it is with friends, family, or even other women we have never met. And let me tell you…it is such a burden to carry.
I know I’m guilty of this.
After having my children I told myself I would never have the same body I had before. I would never look the same as I did before I was pregnant. I used the excuse that I didn’t have time to spend hours in the gym or I didn’t have the money for a trainer to spend those hours in the gym.
It wasn’t until I educated myself about health and fitness that I found I could have the body a longed for. My body has done incredible things, such as carrying two beautiful, healthy babies. Now it’s my turn to take care of myself to be able to take care of my kids.
Call me selfish if you will, but this is what I have to do, for myself and for my family.
Another thing I have run into while on my journey is other women tearing each other down. Why do we do this? Why do others feel the need to tell other women that they’re too big or too little, or not pretty enough? I have yet to understand this and as I sit here and think about it, it really makes me upset.
Instead of tearing each other down, shouldn’t we try to encourage and uplift each other?
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the BeyondFit Family, because I know no matter what, there will always be someone there encouraging me along my journey. It is such a blessing to have strong and encouraging ladies as my support system.
With all this being said here are a few things to think about if you’re a mom who is struggling…
4 Tips When You’re Feeling Down:
- Just breathe. Seriously take a step back and take a deep breath. Let all the tension you might be carrying leave your body.
- Take a walk. Simple as that, take a walk to relax and leave the stress of what might be going on behind for a little while.
- Focus on your strengths. Look in the mirror tell yourself you are beautiful. YOU ARE!
- Enjoy life. No matter where your journey might take you, just enjoy it!
