Skin Care Routine and Gym Makeup
Let’s face it ladies, after a workout we can feel like a sweaty, hot mess!
So it’s the perfect time to treat our skin to some refreshing products!
Cleanser: Murad Clarifying Cleanser
This cleanser is perfect for normal, combo and oily skin types. It contains salicylic acid which helps deep clean your pores, reduce pore size, even out skin texture, as well as treat and prevent breakouts. It also has antibacterial properties, which also helps with preventing acne. Try rinsing this cleanser off with cool water. It’ll be the most refreshing, awakening treat for the skin!
These wonderful pads are an excellent everyday, gentle exfoliator. They contain glycerin (which moisturizes), aloe leaf juice (which soothes), cucumber (soothes and cools), and glycolic and lactic acid (helps to shed dead skin cells and balance ph levels in the skin). I have acne prone skin and I have seen a huge difference in the overall health and appearance of my skin, as well as an improvement in the amount and severity of my breakouts.
Moisturizer: Shiseido Ibuki Multi Solution Gel
I love this gel for a lightweight, daily moisturizer. It sits beautifully under makeup and it’s the perfect choice whenever you need a light amount of hydration. It contains a tiny amount of salicylic acid which will help with minimize the appearance of pores and even out skin texture.
This eye cream will take you from “Oh no my poor, sleep deprived eyes” to “Hello there bright eyed lady!!” It’s tinted and comes in the original shade (suitable for fair to medium skin tones) and a medium/deep shade. It does half the work of a concealer so it will help counteract any darkness under the eyes, without looking like you have concealer on. It blends in beautifully and will not move or crease since it sinks into the skin. This eye cream will also help smooth and de puff. I love this for no makeup days and I prep my eyes with this before makeup because I end up needing way less concealer under the eye!
Now that we’ve treated the skin to some wonderful ingredients, let’s talk makeup!
I think it’s completely ok to rock makeup to the gym. This can be tricky at times, though. Especially if you sweat a lot on your face and upper lip. So here are some great products and tips for gym makeup!
Face
Foundation: If you need foundation, I’d suggest something very lightweight like a tinted moisturizer (I’d recommend Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue for dry skin and Smashbox BB Cream for normal to oily skin). I also really like the Smashbox Studio Skin foundation as well. It has medium coverage, natural finish and its waterproof! Now, I’d recommend not using a powder over top unless your very oily. A powder texture on the skin will not bode well with sweat. The sweat will kind of eat away at the powder and leave you with blotchy foundation.
Concealer: This is one product I definitely rock to the gym. I love the Makeup Forever Full Cover concealer because it’s waterproof. It sets really nicely on the skin without the need for a powder. This is one of my top performing products under the eye as well! Just blend a little with your ring fingers and you’re good to go! You can also use a tiny bit to neutralize any redness on the face, as well. If you’re not wearing foundation, make sure to blend around the edges of where your placing it, to ensure the finished product is seamless.
Blush: If you go with a blush, I’d recommend a cream one. You can just tap it into the apples of the cheeks. Some cream blushes I love are the Revlon Cream Blushes and the Sephora brand Cream Blushes.
Eyes
Mascara: Waterproof is the way to go! My favorite waterproof mascara is the Covergirl Clump Crusher in waterproof black. I love this mascara if I’m wearing minimal makeup or full on makeup! It’s one of my all time favs.
Liner: Go waterproof as well! Rimmel makes an amazing eyeliner (get the pencil kind you sharpen) called Scandeleyes. Makeup Forever also has an Aqua Eyes liner that is phenomenal! If you have problems with eyeliner staying put on your eyes, try using an eye shadow primer (I love the NARS Pro Prime and Urban Decay Primer Potion) and also try setting the eyeliner with a dark eye shadow. Just press some eyeshadow over top of where you placed the liner with an angled eyeliner brush. Any cream product that you set with a powder will instantly last longer and stay put.
Lips: I just pop on a lip balm. If you have dry, chapped lips that are frequently in bad condition, I highly recommend Lucas’ Paw Paw Ointment. I get mine from Amazon or Beautylish.com. It’s made in Australia and is hands down the best all purpose balm I’ve ever used. It not only hydrates, it heals as well. You can use it on burns, cuts, rashes. It’s the one balm I can use when I’m sick and have raw lips or nose and it doesn’t burn or sting. It’s the most soothing product I’ve ever used.
I hope you learned some new things and have some products you wanna try!
